Cordis, Auckland is proud to be the first Hotel to partner with Beyond Skin Deep since July 2018 to return soap to communities in need. The used bars of soap from our guest rooms are collected by Beyond Skin Deep and re-purposed in a recycling facility in New Zealand. The soap is cleaned, crushed and filtered into fresh bars and results in zero waste. It is then distributed to a community in need through the global charitable organisation “Rapid Relief Team”. In 2018 and 2019 we collected 597.1kgs of used soap from the hotel's guests rooms and suites, to be recycled.
Helping New Zealanders since 1990, Shine is a leading specialist domestic abuse charity, providing effective services for adult and child victims of domestic abuse and men who have used abusive behaviour, as well as a range of training and educating programmes. Hotel colleagues regularly support Shine through various local activities like Light It Orange campaign, Round the Bays and Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge.
Ronald McDonald House is a charitable organisation that supports families when their child is in a New Zealand hospital away from home. Their programmes make a positive difference to the health and well-being of children. On a quarterly basis, hotel colleagues visit Ronald McDonald House to cook dinner for the families and entertain the children.
Make-A-Wish is our official charity partner. It is an organisation that grants the wishes of children who are battling critical illnesses to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. The hotel regularly hosts Make-A-Wish Children and their families, providing complimentary accommodation and dining experiences. We have been involved with more than 30 amazing wishes since 2015.
Cordis, Auckland has a Volunteer Activity Programme that allows colleagues to volunteer their time, expertise and efforts in the local community, by assisting our community partners. Through varied activities ranging from cleaning up local parks and coastlines, to baking and digging gardens, all our colleagues enjoy the chance to give back to the local community and to see the positive impact of their efforts.
