Cordis, Auckland Introduces New High Tea

(1 November, 2017, Auckland) – Cordis, Auckland is proud to announce the creation of its brand new High Tea by Cordis, an afternoon teatime indulgence with a creative ‘Kiwi’ twist that is all set to capture the hearts - and tastebuds - of Auckland.

“We will continue to offer the traditional high tea favourites at this hotel, but you can expect a new emphasis on local flavours and ingredients,” says Cordis, Auckland Executive Chef, Volker Marecek. “It will be Cordis styled - but just as delightful and delicious,” he adds.

Diners can expect an exquisite array of handcrafted sweets, pastries and fluffy scones, drawing inspiration from New Zealand ingredients, all served on elegant fine bone China.

The new High Tea by Cordis menu will be served in The Lobby Lounge from 1 November to 30 November 2017. For the month of December 2017, The Lobby Lounge will present a special festive Christmas High Tea, as the hotel celebrates its first ‘Christmas at Cordis’, and High Tea by Cordis will return with more tempting treats in January 2018.


Kiwi-inspired Menu

Featured on the new menu will be ‘Auckland Countryside’ – a handcrafted dessert with ‘hay’ mousse, almond sponge, chocolate mousse and Thomson whisky topped with marinated strawberries. For a sweet take on the conventional club sandwich, diners can indulge in a layered creation of lemon curd, Speculaas biscuit, milk chocolate ganache, a milk chocolate triangle and a garnish of fresh kiwifruit. Adding colour to the menu will be the Cordis Orange Roll, capturing the brand’s distinctive ‘Cordis Orange’ with a creation of orange jelly, orange parfait and candied orange.

Savoury treats include a jelly of beetroot, South Island goat cheese curd and Otago honeycomb, organic pork pie with pickled mustard, and custard of Big Glory Bay Salmon (hailing from New Zealand’s Stewart Island) with lemon sable and Kawakawa dressing.

A personalised tea sommelier service will offer fine teas, coffees or a glass of Louis Roederer Champagne for diners wanting a celebratory touch.
